TURNmusic continues to bring new, exciting, and relevant music to new audiences in Vermont. Founder Anne Decker mixes her musical tastes and experience to create unique sets of live music. TURNmusic performances are defined by quality not by genre – and presents
professional music concerts in relaxed venues while maintaining affordable ticket prices. “TURNmusic’s program turned out to be a real musical adventure, beautifully and effectively performed,” says Jim Lowe of the Times Argus.

This June’s program is a collection of music by several composers who have been inspired by the late David Bowie. Daniel Felsenfeld’s work, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, is a musical resetting of Bowie’s lyrics. Felsenfeld says, “It’s not hyperbole when I say David Bowie saved my life, at the rawest veiloftears point where I – and most of us – need a rescue.” Philip Glass wrote two symphonies in response to Bowie’s music; TURNmusic, programming Glass for the first time, will be performing his Façades. The program also includes Dreams of a Dominant Culture by Evan Ziporyn. Ziporyn conducted an orchestral tribute to Bowie this past January, performing the Philip Glass symphonies. Echi Dromi by Joseph Pereira features the flute and dumbek in a middle eastern inspired duet. TURNmusic also performs Paracusis by Stephanie Meyer, the 2016 winner of their annual Collegiate Composition Prize! She is currently a composition student at the
Vermont College of Fine Arts.

TURNmusic is presented by Signal Kitchen at ArtsRiot in Burlington. The concerts are duplicated in Decker’s hometown of Waterbury at the Green Mountain Club. 802.578.5028 for more info.
