Join us for the kickoff of Grand Opening Weekend at ArtsRiot! We’re celebrating the opening of our newly-constructed and operating distillery with a weekend of music, food, drinks, performance art, and more!

The Burning Sun is an indie-rock trio from Burlington, VT (unceded Abenaki territory). Katy Hellman is the band's primary songwriter and the powerful voice at the center of their artistic vision. Working closely with Steven LeBel and Bo Malcolm, their collaboration is a prism refracting eclectic influences. The New Pornographers, REM, and The Cranberries all serve as important touchstones, but the resulting songs are in a world of their own. Unpredictable melodies, intricate rhythm changes and atmospheric guitar tones capture elements of psych and prog; however, the band derives its signature sound from Hellman’s soaring vocal delivery. The Burning Sun lays bare the grandness (and absurdity) of being alive; the explosive highs and chaotic lows. Bursting with personality and conviction, their music urges us to never lose sight of life’s possibilities.

The music of indie rock four-piece Ok Cowgirl exists at an intersection of lyric-driven catharsis and dreamy, guitar-centric ecstasy. Fronted by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Leah Lavigne and backed by Matt Birkenholz on drums, John Miller on bass, and Jake Sabinsky on guitar, the Brooklyn-based project draws upon a wealth of experience playing and working in bars, clubs, and DIY spaces across the New York music scene. Ok Cowgirl’s studio output reflects the outfit’s genesis as a live band, crystallizing around instrumental and vocal passages that spurred genuine reactions from crowds past. Previously lauded by Earmilk, Flood, The Line of Best Fit, Brooklyn Vegan, American Songwriter, and Under the Radar, Ok Cowgirl shared their highly anticipated debut EP Not My First Rodeo on December 8, 2021. Of which Atwood Magazine writes:

"Ok Cowgirl pack a wealth of lived experience, emotion, and passion into these five songs, resulting in a record that is as catchy as it is cathartic and as intimate as it is intense. Whether you’re in it for the rock riffs or the raw reckonings, this EP is sure to provide endless entertainment all winter long – and it’s certainly earned Ok Cowgirl a space as one of Atwood Magazine‘s 2022 artists to watch.”

Father Figuer is a sirencore indie alt band based in Burlington, VT. Distinguished by a relentless culmination of tidal emotion, the group focuses on the capture and release of human experience. These hunts are characterized by indie, ambient and post-rock influences while grounded in a shoegaze delivery. The trio oscillates between vocal and instrumental focus, seeking to pull from both primal roots and societal understanding.
