Poetry Riot (formally known as Poetry Slam) is ArtsRiot's longest running residency. True to the motto Destroy Apathy, it is a local open mic and platform of expression for experienced and budding poets alike. We pride ourselves on holding a warmly inviting inclusive space that is safe to be vulnerable and authentic in and to share your unique expression. All are welcome! This event is sponsored by the Young Writers Project.

Featuring Lilian Traviato:
I was born in Rome, Italy, but moved back to my mother's hometown of Pittsburgh when I was 8. The same year I started playing the double bass in school and also discovered GarageBand. Everything I make has been a continuation of that (though I now work in Logic). I'm also into film-making and visual arts, so I direct and edit my own music videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YCSrHo7UOs) and make my own album art.
